screen-grab-23. Point your browser to the new IP address you chose in the previous step (eg. 192.168.69.1). Go to tab "Security", sub-tab "Firewall":

  • Set the SPI firewall to "disable" (you can turn it back on later).
  • Save settings.

screen-grab-34. Go to tab "Wireless", sub-tab "Basic Settings":

  • Set Wireless Mode to "Repeater"
  • Choose a "Wireless network Mode". Choose "Mixed" for greatest compatibility.
  • Under "Wireless Physical Interface", set "Wireless Network Name (SSID)" to the network you wish to repeat. Set Network Configuration to "Bridged".
  • Click on "Apply Settings" ("Virtual Interfaces" section does not appear until you save the changes)
  • Click on "Add" under "Virtual Interfaces", and enter an SSID (such as "repeater"). Set Wireless SSID Broadcast to "Enabled". AP Isolation is "Disabled" and Network Configuration is "Bridged".
  • Click "Save".

screen-grab-45. Next, configure security (WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc) in repeater mode.

  • Go to tab "Wireless", sub-tab "Wireless Security".
  • Setup the "Physical Interface". This is the interface to the network you are repeating. Choose the Security Mode this network is using (ie. If the network you are repeating is WEP, choose "Security Mode" WEP and enter the Passphrase).
  • Setup the "Virtual Interface". This is the interface to the local network that is broadcasting the repeated signal (ie. If you want to connect to your local network using WPA2 select "Security Mode" WPA2 and enter a WPA Shared Key).
  • Click "Save".
  • Configure your client/computer(s) to use the same security (ie. in above example: WPA2).
